There was a little accident at JS’s school this morning. Upon reaching the school, I saw one of JS’s teacher ready to leave. She looks in pain and apparently something had happened. The principle was standing there with her. Found out that she was scalded by hot boiling water all over her laps. I saw her limbing to a waiting car to head to the clinic. I don’t know how it happened, was it due to the teacher’s carelessness, an accident? What exactly has happened earlier, I didn’t know, I pity the teacher (she’s JS’s favourite) but I shudder upon the thought of this kind of accident happening in a pre-school. The thought of “WHAT IF” keep flashing in my mind. WHAT IF there is kid around her at that time? WHAT IF it’s the kids that has got scalded instead of her? I remember seeing the school boiling water for morning break at one of the corner of the class, ON THE FLOOR. ( I suppose there is no electric socket at the pantry area??) WHAT IF a naughty kid go play with the kettle while it’s boiling? I really dare not imagine.
There was also once that one of JS’s classmate got choke by a candy and they had to sent her to the paed a few doors away. That’s why I always reminded JS never to put the whole candy in her mouth. I’m thinking maybe it’s time the school review their safety measure. Sometimes I think they are under staff. There are 5 classes, all with not more than 12 students, 4 teachers, 1 principle, 1 tea lady, a Mandarin teacher that come twice a week and a music master that comes (don’t know how many times a week) to the school, maybe they need one more teaching assistant. Especially when there will be teacher on leave or MC.
