It’s almost time of the year to start school hunting for JS next year schooling again, I hate it…
I have narrowed down alot of my criterias in school choice. I know in the town we staying, all my criterias are hard to be met. We are staying in a very highly Malay populated small town. The standard of schooling is really not that high. I dont want to send her to a all Malay pre-school to have a “kampung” style education.
We’ve decided not to let her continue with her current school, mainly because I want her to change to a different environment where Mandarin will be the main medium of conduct. It’s time for her to catch up with her Mandarin.
Not to say that her current school is not good ( she did learn a few things but I’m also very dissapointed in many areas of the school system), she has been mingling too much around the Malays and Indians. All her teachers are Indian and I notice she’s picking up the indian accent when she speak by twirling her tongue and sometimes she even attempt to speak Tamil.
I’m not racist but I still have the mentality like most Chinese and would very much prefer her to attend school with majority of Chinese around her. Even if for a English speaking school, I would very much prefer to have many Chinese teachers and chinese students. I’m still very fussy about the teacher-student ratios and also the distant.
There are chinese pre-school in a much Chinese populated housing areas but it also meant more time need to spent on commuting from home to that area. My school choices are mainly located in a chinese populated , newer developed township which are very far away from home.
This is one thing I dislike staying in this area. The headache now begins….I suppose I will have to sascrifice my time and her sleep on commuting in order to meet my least expectation. My hope of her attending a Montessori style play school is dashed….. I’m hoping making I can make up for that for WH when we move back to the city.
I have done a search through the internet hoping to get a listing of kindergarten in the area/town we are staying, but I’m totally disapointed. Maybe people from the small town don’t know how to utilize the internet for advertising their center…looks like I have to drive around the area and start knocking at the kindies’s door when I do come across one. SuckS!
Hubby actually asked if I have found any school for JS. He even brought of the suggestion of whether we should move to another suburb (S2 or RS) which is more Chinese populated and with better school…I’m comteplating it but at the same time I really not sure if the move is worthwhile as surely in 2 years time we are going to move back to our permanent house in Klang valley for JS formal schooling, moving to another suburb also mean hubby have to pay toll to go to work and the distant to his workplace is further..I’m really not sure now….really have to 孟母三迁???
